Barril (Agave karwinskii) does the structural work in karwinskii ensambles. Where madrecuishe and bicuishe lift the aromatic top, barril lays the bass – denser, less perfumed, a savory-mineral floor that holds 18-25 years to mature. The plant grows in upright stalks the village name describes literally; if you've seen one, you understand why every karwinskii bottle has a structural anchor. Solo barriles run common at the upper tier; Real Minero's barril is the canonical clay-still version, direct-fired in olla de barro, and the bottle most American drinkers know first.
