Verdict
Luminar's joven is a bottle that exists because shelf space is cheap and someone has to fill it. The liquid is technically mezcal and technically tequilana, and it carries as neither with any conviction. 400 Conejos at its worst is a peer. That peer group is the warning. Vida, Banhez, even a careful bar-well tequila does more for the money than this bottle does.
A bottle with nothing to say and a dollar to save
Tasting notes
Nose: Muted cooked agave, industrial sweetness, a trace of ethanol
Palate: Thin, sweet, mechanically clean in a way that carries as absence of character rather than presence of craft. 40% is the ABV commercial mezcal lives at when no one is being held to any standard
Finish: Sweet, gone – short
The bottom line
An easy no. Buy almost anything else
