Verdict
Mazot's anisado is the sort of flavored bottle that makes you want the unflavored one more – Sonora's pacifica agave can carry a lot, but it shouldn't have to carry anise too. Skip unless you're specifically hunting anise-infused spirits; the Mazot Blanco argues the category more cleanly.
The base spirit is the story. This one covers it up
Tasting notes
Nose: Star anise – then toasted pacifica, a sweet confectioner's top note
Palate: 42% and over-flavored, the anise reads as an addition rather than an emerging character, and the bacanora underneath doesn't get room to speak
Finish: Candied, licorice-forward. Short
The bottom line
An easy no. Try the Blanco instead
