Verdict

Moteado is another window into Juan Pérez García's work – same producer, same Etucuaro terroir, wild cupreata this time. The silvestre selection gives the bottle a sharper herbal register than the Mocel cultivated version, and at 47.5% the structure stays intact. Three reviewers at 4.2 tracks. Michoacán cupreata partisans should already own one.

The Mocel catalog under another label – still excellent, still Michoacán

Tasting notes

Nose: Ripe pear, then warm soil, wild thyme, a resinous note

Palate: 47.5% wild-harvested cupreata from Etucuaro – more structured and herbal than the cultivated-cupreata average, with Juan Pérez García's by-now-familiar clarity

Finish: Herbal, mineral – long

The bottom line

Buy if Mocel Cupreata is sold out; the producer is the same
