Pierde Almas Joven

The entry Pierde Almas – design-forward, mid-weight

Score: 3.5/5 agaves

  • Region: Mexico
  • Price: $40–90 ($$)

Verdict

Pierde Almas' joven has always served as the welcome mat, not the living room. Drink it to understand the house restraint, then reach for the dobadán or the pechuga to see what the brand can actually do. As a standalone, it's competent and polished, the liquid equivalent of the packaging, which is both a compliment and a limit.

The gateway Pierde Almas – tells you the style, not the ceiling

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave, light smoke, a mineral cool underneath

Palate: Clean, unaggressive, mid-bodied. The entry bottle has always been the least interesting Pierde Almas SKU – it's where the brand meets the market and trims its edges. Assume 45-47% proof, in the competent range

Finish: Short-to-medium, herbal, clean

The bottom line

Skip this one. Spend the extra for the rare-agave bottles
