Verdict
Papalometl rewards makers who trust the plant's strangeness; this bottle seems nervous about it. The sweetness is there, the mineral is there, but the tension between them, which is the whole reason to drink wild potatorum, stays quiet. At the price tier Tlamati occupies, the Banhez Tobalá makes a more memorable case for wild-agave entry.
Potatorum should bite back. This one nods
Tasting notes
Nose: Honey with dusty floral
Palate: Mid-weight. At 46.8%, clean-faced, with the potatorum sweetness doing most of the talking and the structure staying in the background
Finish: Soft, a little short for the agave
The bottom line
Competent papalometl, but the Salas espadilla is the bottle to buy from this house
