San Luis Amatlán is one of sub-Miahuatlán's most consistent palenque clusters. Elevation, water, and a deep producer pool feed half a dozen of the high-end labels – 5 Sentidos, NETA, El Jolgorio, Mezcalosfera all source here. Amatlán mezcal runs herbal-and-mineral with a slightly cooler register than Miahuatlán proper; producers tend toward 47%+ proof and longer rests. Most serious Amatlán bottles ask $60-$100.
