Papalote Mezcal

Papalote is one of Guerrero's local names for cupreata. Same plant, different vocabulary – village to village, the regional word shifts. Bottles labeled 'papalote' tend to come from the Mayalén and Chilapa de Álvarez palenques, where cupreata grows wild on volcanic soils above 1,400 meters. The signature is cupreata's: bright, aromatic, vegetal-floral, with a long structural finish. The naming is a producer choice; the agave is the same.
