Cupreata (Agave cupreata) is Guerrero's signature wild agave – high-altitude, slow-growing, distinct from anything Oaxaca produces. Cupreata's profile leans bright and aromatic with a vegetal-floral lift; the agave handles high proof beautifully and the most articulate bottlings sit at 48% or above. Most credible cupreata comes from Mayalén, Tres Papalote, and a handful of single-maestro Guerrero palenques. The agave is the strongest argument that mezcal's wild-agave conversation isn't only about Miahuatlán.
